Letheen Agar, Modified (Modified Letheen Agar)
Letheen Agar, Modified (Modified Letheen Agar) medium is recommended for screening cosmetic products for microbial contamination. Lecithin and polysorbate have been used since 1940 for neutralization of antimicrobial agents and quaternary ammonium compounds. This methodology was initially accepted by AOAC (1965) followed by FDA(1978, pre-enrichment step) for cosmetic microbial analysis. Letheen agar is thus recommended for screening of cosmetic products for microbial contaminantion
