Amies Transport Medium w/ Charcoal
Used for transportation and preservation of microbiological specimen.
Amies Transport Medium with Charcoal is recommended for transportation and preservation of microbiological specimens.
It contains inorganic phosphate buffer and charcoal.
Charcoal neutralizes the materials that are toxic to sensitive pathogens like Neisseria gonorrhoeae. Calcium magnesium, potassium and sodium salts help the survival of gonococcal cells and controls permeability of bacterial cells. Phosphates buffer the medium.
After transportation, the specimen is inoculated in appropriate medium as soon as possible. When subcultured on Soyabean Casein Digest Agar organisms grows luxuriantlly on this medium.
