Bile Esculin Azide Agar
Bile Esculin Azide Agar is recommended for selective isolation and presumptive identification of faecal Streptococci. The composition and performance criteria of this medium are as per the specifications laid down in ISO 7899-1:1984. Bile and sodium azide inhibits other accompanying bacteria. Esculetin gives a dark brown or black complex which forms a zone of black precipitate around the colonies.
